Description

Very peculiar specimen of galena and sphalerite from this famous Irish mine. It comes on a bit of pyrite/dolomite rich matrix, which has a bit of oxidation stains but most of the unstable parts have been carefully trimmed away. Crystals are cubeoctahedrons, with medium lustre but quite clean of oxidations. Two galena crystals specifically show negative faces, possibly a hoppering. Another group appears to have a contact twin. A couple of honey sphalerite crystals are present in the specimen, with good lustre and partially transparent.
Rich and quite fresh.
