0.40cm
Description

The present specimen features a thick barrel shaped realgar crystal of blood red color, perfectly formed and in mint conditions. It is a bridge between two colemanite crystals of excellent lustre and good white color, locally transparent. Realgar is partially transparent too, with partial transparency when backlit. Colemanite makes a crown of crystals that perfectly protects the realgar.

One of my very top specimens from the locality. From my personal collection, it has always been kept in the dark since the day I acquired it (early 2000s). There is no trace of alteration whatsoever - a true gem!

Bigadic realgar of good quality is extremely rare on the mineral market, as the matrix (colemanite) is usually ground as commodity and specimens are lost.
