Description Tabs

Description
Locality:
Hilltop Mine, Organ Mountains, Doña Ana County, New Mexico, United States of America
Class:
Massive/Crystalline
Size Range:
Small miniature (3-4.5 cm)
Size:
4.2 × 2.3 × 2.1 cm
Description

Rich altaite specimen in host pale matrix from this classic US locality. A thick grey metallic vein departs into a couple of smaller ones across the entire specimen, with good metallic lustre. Occasionally, a few grains of pyrite appear embedded in altaite. These specimens are famous for hosting rickardite as well, although I could not see any.
Quite rich and representative. Former collection William Duarte (USA).
A lucky find at the Denver show 2018!
