Peculiar specimen of mica rich aplite hosting a couple of red tourmaline crystals, possibly rubellite, with a green core when observed in cross section. Crystals are not complete, as this is usual for this pegmatite. main crystal is 6 mm across and it shows the growth striations parallel to the main prism. Good lustre for the tourmaline crystals and great color contrast with the pale matrix.
Not commonly seen at the UK shows. Two sides of the matrix were sawn off for better display. It comes with an Allan Dean handwritten label.
