Bernarlottiite

Rare Mineral

Description Tabs

Description
Locality:
Ceragiola Quarries, Seravezza, Lucca Province, Tuscany, Italy
Class:
Crystals on Matrix
Size Range:
Micromount (under 1cm)
Size:
0.6 × 0.5 × 0.2 cm
Description

This specimen of bernarlottiite comes as curved metallic needles, very fresh, nicely grown over well crystallized calcite, giving a striking color contrast to the specimen. Extremely rare, it is best appreciated with a 10x magnification. Given its size, it is very difficult for my setup to photograph, although a micromounter's setup could easily shoot excellent pictures of the specie.
This specimen comes from the analyzed cotype. The analyses were carried out at the University of Pisa (Italy) and resulted into 2 scientific publications (Orlandi et al., 2014, Mineralogical Magazine; Orlandi et al., 2017, European Journal of Mineralogy). To the winning bidder I will provide a pdf of the latter publication.
