Description

Rich specimen of glaucocerinite with natroglaucocerinite from the Lavrion mining district (Greece). The specimen is given by a thick pale carbonatic layer, which has been mineralised on one side by the two rare species. Glaucocerinite, light blue, covers most of the surface and it has some rims of dark blue azurite. Natroglaucocerinite, very pale to white, covers a small fraction of the mineralized surface.
Once a classic from Lavrion, this assemblage is increasingly scarce. Natroglaucocerinite has been for years discarded by collectors who thought it was a paler glaucocerinite. On a side note, this is my first glaucocerinite/natroglaucocerinite, in my collection since 1992!
