Description

Sizeable quartz crystal cluster from Crapteig. The group is given by a dozen interpenetrating quartz individuals that are either stained or include iron oxides that give a final yellow taint to the specimen. Most crystals are in excellent conditions, provided some occasional contacts. The specimen could be further cleaned, although I did not attempt it in order to preserve the geological signature and the 'touch' of the collector.

A very large specimen from Crapteig. Former collection B. Flurin (Switzerland). Sizes include wooden base.

B. Flurin was a knowledgeable Swiss collector. He was specialised in Swiss localities, choice specimens, odd quartz shapes and inclusions.

As his collection was mostly assembled between the 50s and the 70s - when the Swiss road system was significantly implemented - he has access to specimens whose localities are now largely either defunct or restricted.
One key feature of his collection was that, with only a few exceptions, his specimens were glued on custom made wooden bases, which he would also paint one by one. All specimens in his collections were balanced aesthetically, as they would display best.
