Topaz

Former collection Weber (Switzerland)
Gem Crystal

Description Tabs

Description
Locality:
Klein Spitzkopje, Karibib, Erongo Region, Namibia
Class:
Single Crystal
Size Range:
Thumbnail (1-3cm)
Size:
1.2 × 0.9 × 0.8 cm
Description

Slightly rounded single crystal of topaz, which was found in a creek streambed. This yellow topaz appears to be fully transparent, with possibly some gemstone potential. The erosive action of the stream has mildly worn out the sharper edges, although the textbook crystal shape of this topaz is perfectly visible. The yellow areas are possibly related to iron oxide stains.

This unusual specimen comes from the Weber collection (Switzerland), which was put together in the early 20th century until the World War II.
