Lasalite With Pascoite

Denver show 2018
Type Locality

Description Tabs

Description
Locality:
Vanadium Queen Mine, La Sal, San Juan County, Utah, United States of America
Class:
Crystals on Matrix
Size Range:
Small miniature (3-4.5 cm)
Size:
3.7 × 2.6 × 1 cm
Description

Rare yellow elongated lasalite associated to bright orange pascoite crystals. Pascoite in particular is very lustrous on this specimen. It comes on the typical gossan matrix, and overall displays beautifully given its evident color contrast. I did not carry out any analyses, and as both species belong to the pascoite group, typically a chemical analysis is advised upon the exact identification of the two (pascoite is Ca-bearing, lasalite is Na-bearing).
Exceptionally rare, it comes from its type locality. Fresh from my recent visit at the Denver show 2018.
