Artroeite With Tenorite

Former stock Bruno Cerato
Rare Mineral

Description Tabs

Description
Locality:
Monte Somma, Vesuvius, Campania, Italy
Class:
Crystals on Matrix
Size Range:
Miniature (4.5-7 cm)
Size:
5.4 × 3.5 × 3.4 cm
Description

An exceptionally rich miniature featuring two very rare species: artroeite with tenorite. Artroeite forms the typical submillimetric white tuffs, mostly aggregated as bow-ties, with silky lustre. They form on top of, or associated to, jet black elongated tenorite crystals, which display no lustre, as expected. One tenorite group exhibits a slight green tarnish, most probably an initial alteration into paratacamite. The overall matrix specimen displays a very rich coverage on most of its surface.
Outstanding, rich and rare. Very rare to find if not in older collections!
