Description

A good miniature specimen of dark yellow-to-pale green topazolite from Monte Rocchetta, Northern Apennines, Italy. Several dozens well formed crystals, often transparent and with good lustre, appear either closely aggregated or isolated on the serpentine matrix. A streak of pale green antigorite also appear on the same specimen. Often antigorite is an index of tectonic movements in the local ophiolite, as its texture resembles fault movements.
The locality is known to local collectors, and its specimens rarely go out of Parma province because of their scarcity. Andradite from the Northern Apennines is very desirable.
Found in the early 2000s by a local collector. I am not aware of recent finds.
