Description

Numerous enargite crystals populate this specimen of vuggy epithermal rock from the legendary Furtei mine in Sardinia (Italy). The crystals are perfect elongated, jet black, with metallic luster, and intimately associated to a number of octahedral pyrite crystals and transparent quartz. In these specimens it was often possible to find tiny native gold wires, scorodite and the very rare luzonite. I have not detailed inspected it, but a closer look at 10x could reveal some of the above species.

A rare sample from this defunct mine, as it is not operational since a few year. Self collected in September 2005 during a guided visit to the mining site.
