Description

Rich specimen fully lined with myriads of dark wurtzite crystals, very lustrous and mostly transparent. Wurtzite makes a pagoda shaped habitus, which is a rather classic shape especially in the mine of Agios Philippos.
In a couple areas it is possible to spot some faces of what, on other specimens, ended up being galena, although the shape looks rather the one of jordanite. As leftovers of relatively fresh galena can be seen throughout the specimen, there is the possibility of pseudomorphosis, although new analyses could give some surprises.

Agios Philippos can be declared a defunct locality, as the mine is closed and the open pit is partly filled with acidic waters. The specimen was self collected in summer 2014, while retrieving data and specimens for an article I published in the Rivista Mineralogica Italiana 4/2014 with some friends. Specimens like that are to be considered among the last available from the locality.
