Description Tabs

Description
Locality:
Eifel Mountains, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany
Class:
Crystals on Matrix
Size Range:
Small miniature (3-4.5 cm)
Size:
2.9 × 3.4 × 2.7 cm
Description

Very rich specimen of yellow brown needle crystals of enstatite in volcanic rock from the Eifel volcanic region. Two area concentrate hundreds of needles with excellent lustre and overall good color contrast with the locally white matrix. In the white vein, a few individual metallic blades of hematite nicely contrast and are visible with a careful inspection.

A representative specimen of this paragenesis, among the richest I have come across. Best appreciated at 10x magnification.

Former collection and stock Bruno Cerato.
