Description

Rich miniature with quite good prismatic, jet black crystals of manganite in powdery - yet, rather solid - manganese ore from Pinal Co., Arizona.
Manganite shows the typical striations and it is extremely lustrous for the specie, and it is associated to candid white baryte blades.

Very unusual specimen, it was acquired in the US in the 1960s. Unfortunately the precise mine is not reported, however given the paragenesis it is possible that the specimen comes from the Geronimo claims (Steamboat Mountain area, Banner District, Dripping Spring Mts).

A specimen from an intriguing locality.
