Description

From the type locality for elbaite, this is an excellent historic specimen of rubellite, which was probably collected in the first decades of 1900 (unfortunately, no old label; it was found in a batch together with G. Garbari's samples): a single, 1.1 cm rubellite crystal, pink light in colour with a blue-green cap, is set on the K-feldspar matrix.

As usual for this ancient items, matrix was carefully and professionally restored in the past.
