Azurite & Malachite

Description Tabs

Description
Locality:
Red Dome Mine, Mungana, Mareeba Shire, Queensland, Australia
Size Range:
Miniature (4.5-7 cm)
Size:
2.7 × 6.9 × 4.3 cm
Largest Crystal:
3.40cm
Description

A star burst of gemmy electric blue azurite crystals that have their lower bodies pseudomorphed by malachite.

This specimen is one of the finest azurite groups to be collected at Red Dome and was in the mine managers collection for more than a decade. My poor photographic skills do not convey the true beauty of this specimen, definitely much better in the hand.
