Description

A plumose to aborescent spray of alabandite crystals from the 18 level of the Zinc corporation mine at Broken Hill. This is very dark brown due to alteration to hausmannite over a thin layer of rhodochrosite, when freshly broken the alabandite is adark earthy olive green colour.

Alabandite is a rare mineral from Broken Hill and has only a very limited area of occurence restricted to the Zinc Corpation and NBHC Mines.
