Description

Velvety masses of malchite are intergrown with crystallised blue quartz from the old Block 14 Mine at Broken Hill.

The blue colour of the quartz is due to the incusion of sulphides predominately galena, it is an unusual to see crystals even micro crystals of this type of quartz at Broken Hill, even though it is a very common gangue mineral especially in the sulphide zones.

Amongst the malachite are small grey green crystals of chlorargyrite for a little added interest
