Description
Locality:
Zinc Corporation Mine, Broken Hill, Yancowinna County, New South Wales, Australia
Size Range:
Miniature (4.5-7 cm)
Size:
2.4 × 5.5 × 5.6 cm
Description

A very thin plate of clear quartz crystals from the 1400 level of the Zinc Corp. Mine at Broken Hill. The quartz crystals are an earthy brown colour on one side due to a fine coating of sturtite, scattered across the quartz are black balls of hisingerite.

This cluster has no obvious point of attachment and probably had broken away from the cavity wall at some time, the base of the specimen has micro galena cleavages, calcite and sphalerite crystals which are best appreciated under magnification
