Description

Yowah nut are limonitic nodules that have weathered in/ out of the country rock. They resemble a nut when found: macadamia or peanut.

The skin of the nodule is normally a light tan to ochre colour and the interior of the nut is dark brown iron stone that has concentric cracking which hopefully for the miners been filled with precious opal. This nut which appears to have been pancaked displays all the right qualities alas the opal infilling is not precious opal but rather clear potch opal with the occassional flash of purple fire. the nut has had both end broken away in the search for good cutting grade opal.

An interesting specimen with a story to tell
