Description Tabs

Description
Locality:
Dome Rock Copper Mine, Boolcoomatta Reserve, Olary Province, South Australia, Australia
Size Range:
Cabinet (10-18 cm)
Size:
3.7 × 13 × 5.4 cm
Description

Originally this specimen started as single cobaltite crystals in matrix, over time the cobaltite has been replaced by smolianinovite, which has been in places replaced by lavendulan.

The lavendulan has on occassion bloomed into small crystal balls/sprays. Subsequently, erythrite has formed in cracks and fissures and then to complicate matters further there is a druze of cobaltaustinite amongst some of the lavendulan.

Of course in places there is remnant cobaltite that is not altered.
