Rhodonite With Galena

Description Tabs

Description
Locality:
North Mine, Broken Hill, Yancowinna County, New South Wales, Australia
Size Range:
Miniature (4.5-7 cm)
Size:
1.4 × 6.8 × 5.2 cm
Description

This large rhodonite from the north mine has a typical rounded termination at one end and crudely formed or heal flat termination at the other end.

Some minor crystalline galena still adheres to the crystal and was the original matrix for this specimen.

A second smaller crystal has grown into the side of the larger and gives the specimen the appearance of a Neolithic weapon. Which I can assure you it is not having been collected in the late 1960's
