Metanatroautunite & Fluor-schorl

Collected by seller

Description Tabs

Description
Locality:
Lake Boga Granite Quarry, Lake Boga, Swan Hill, Victoria, Australia
Size Range:
Miniature (4.5-7 cm)
Size:
4.1 × 6.4 × 4.1 cm
Description

A fascinating vugh in granite, that has interspersed amongst well formed muscovite crystals; yellow twinned blades of metanatroautunite (fluoresces yellowy green), needles and stubby crystals of the F-analogue of schorl, as well as tentatively identified hyalite, cyrilovite and meurigite-Na.

A complex specimen that is best appreciated under either magnification or longwave uv. That area where this material occurred has been mined out and unless the quarry is significantly widened in the future, it is unlikely that more of this material will be available to collect.
