Description

A fine of latered cobaltite crystals in a cherty matrix is the basis for this miniature specimen. The cobaltite has been replaced by orangish browm smolianinovite crystals and also deep green to blue green cobaltaustinite crystals. In addition light turquoise blue lavendulan and pink erthyrite has also formed in fratures in the matrix and mixed with some of the smolianinovite in some pseudomorphs. The most appealing mineralogically are the cobaltaustinite crystals and pseudomorphs as this is the type locality for this rare cobalt arsenate species.
