Description

In 2014, there was this find that produced encrustation pseudomorphs of adamite after botryoidal smithsonite. I bought the entire find back then as I knew it was a unique type of thing and not just for Greece. This huge specimen is the biggest and probably the best example from the pocket. The matrix is brown calcite and the surface is covered with thousands of crystals of adamite. The adamite was deposited on the surface of botryoidal smithsonite that is entirely gone from the specimen and only traces of it were found when it was analyzed to figure what was going on. We suspected it was a pseudo because much of the space inbetween the adamite and the calcite matrix was hollow and there were round formations that were hollow. The analyzing that was done back then showed that the hollowed space used to be botryoidal smithsonite.

I wanted to start this at a higher price but given the unusually high shipping costs, I decided to keep it low so that you have room to bid and compete comfortably before even getting close to its true value.

It weighs around 7kgs and would make a package of around 8 kgs. Please note that for the safety of other specimens, this should be shipped alone in one package so I would not combine shipping with this included.
