Description Tabs

Description
Locality:
Km-3 Mine, Lavrion District, Attiki Prefecture, Greece
Class:
Crystals on Matrix
Size Range:
Miniature (4.5-7 cm)
Size:
5.9 × 4.2 × 2.4 cm
Description

Annabergite from Lavrion is the best in the world. It used to be relatively easy to find back in the 90s and early 00s but never in really fine specimens. Nowadays, a good piece is very hard to find. The mine is not producing anymore and will never produce again, mostly because the area is exhausted but also because of local issues. This is an obviously rich and beautiful example with gemmy green annabergite crystals, associated with beautiful aggregates of nickeloan calcites! The piece was in the Wolfgang Wendel collection, then in the Kristalle dealer inventory and then I bought it for my collection! Of course, from my personal collection.
