Tennantite Bournonite & Dolomite

Classic Locality

Description Tabs

Description
Locality:
Cassandra Mines, Aristotelis, Chalkidiki, Central Macedonia, Greece
Class:
Crystals on Matrix
Size Range:
Miniature (4.5-7 cm)
Size:
5.9 × 5.6 × 3.7 cm
Description

Here is a very interesting specimen. Most of the piece can be taken as one large crystal of tennantite that is composed of many small crystal faces in parallel growth, or just a group of highly lustrous, well-formed tennantites. That would be enough to own a fine and rare piece from the locality. But this is not just it. It hosts bournonite crystals (they could also be seligmannite but I have not analyzed them) and a bizarre cubical encrustation speudomorph of cream dolomite after an unknown mineral.
