Description Tabs

Description
Locality:
Kamariza Mines, Agios Konstantinos, Lavrion District, Attiki Prefecture, Greece
Class:
Crystal Group/Cluster
Size Range:
Miniature (4.5-7 cm)
Size:
4.7 × 2.7 × 2.2 cm
Description

Here is an interesting and unique specimen from Lavrion. The piece is a double encrustation pseudomorph or double perimorph of some wonderful blue smithsonite on goethite psm after crystals of gypsum. On some piece from this find, the goethite pseudo is totally gone but on this one, it is still there and the shape of the long-gone gypsum is very clear, especially at the back. So we have color, contrast and a rare, unusual mineralogical process here!
