Goethite Psm Gypsum & Adamite

Classic Locality

Description Tabs

Description
Locality:
Kamariza Mines, Agios Konstantinos, Lavrion District, Attiki Prefecture, Greece
Class:
Crystals on Matrix
Size Range:
Miniature (4.5-7 cm)
Size:
6.1 × 3.1 × 1.3 cm
Description

What we have here is goethite that has replaced prismatic faces of selenite. The crystal form and termination can be seen at the main crystals but this is actually a 2d specimen as the rest of the faces are missing. They have probably been dissolved and not replaced with goethite. Apart from being a nice, unusual pseudo, it is associated with the rare for Lavrion white colored adamite in tiny little crystals on both sides of the specimen. I am selling it on consignment with a Greek collector.
