Fluorite

Classic Locality

Description Tabs

Description
Locality:
Megala Pefka Mines, Megala Pefka, Lavrion District, Attiki Prefecture, Greece
Class:
Crystals on Matrix
Size Range:
Small cabinet (7-10 cm)
Size:
7 × 7 × 2.4 cm
Description

I acquired this piece from a German collection in 2015 and I was told that it was found around 1999. It has a bizarre, tetragonal shape and is covered with purplish, cubic crystals of fluorite. Only two sides are contacted, the other two are covered with fluorite. The quality of the fluorite is quite good for the locality and there is minor calcite present.
