Classic Locality

Description Tabs

Description
Locality:
Sounion Mines, Lavrion, Attiki Prefecture, Greece
Class:
Crystals on Matrix
Size Range:
Miniature (4.5-7 cm)
Size:
6.4 × 3.6 × 3.3 cm
Description

Wonderful color and association in this miniature. The bluish botryoidal mineral is chrysocolla. However, the color tones change which indicates a change in the composition so every layer might actually show another mineral. There are clear crystals of hemimorphite here and there and also some blue crystals of aurichalcite. It shows some beautiful pictures at close inspection and even better with some magnification!
