Description Tabs

Description
Locality:
Chania, Crete, Greece
Class:
Single Crystal
Size Range:
Miniature (4.5-7 cm)
Size:
4.2 × 4.6 × 4.1 cm
Description

These quartz specimens come from several finds that were during a 20-year period of digging in Crete for quartz, by a German collector. All of these specimens come from alpine-type fissures.

A typical characteristic of many of these quartzes is that their prism faces are too short, or nearly totally gone so they sometimes look like beta quartz. Here is such an example, complete all around and recrystallized at the base too.
