Classic Locality

Description Tabs

Description
Locality:
Sounion Mines, Lavrion, Attiki Prefecture, Greece
Class:
Crystals on Matrix
Size Range:
Small cabinet (7-10 cm)
Size:
9.5 × 6 × 5.6 cm
Description

This is  very unusual combo specimen. The piece is mostly rich in aurichalcite with needle like crystals. There are also some tiny, pale bluish, rhombohedral crystals that I guess is aurichalcite but could be something else. Then we have small crystals of azurite in several areas. What is very interesting is the octahedral crystals of cuprite! I have never seen such a combination before! There seems to be some alteration on the cuprites as expected. There also is some green cuprian adamite present!
