Austinite & Calcite

Classic Locality

Description Tabs

Description
Locality:
Kamariza Mines, Agios Konstantinos, Lavrion District, Attiki Prefecture, Greece
Class:
Crystals on Matrix
Size Range:
Miniature (4.5-7 cm)
Size:
5.9 × 3.6 × 2.8 cm
Description

Scalenohedral calcite crystals, possibly partially replaced with goethite with a cast of yellow-green austinite. The austinite was not analyzed by me but I trust my source for the proper id of the mineral, after all it looks a lot like Lavrion austinite it is just some times confused with other rare minerals.
