Brochantite Olivenite Conichalcite Cuprite & Calcite

Classic Locality

Description Tabs

Description
Locality:
Christiana Mine, Kamariza, Agios Konstantinos, Lavrion District, Attiki Prefecture, Greece
Class:
Crystal Group/Cluster
Size Range:
Small miniature (3-4.5 cm)
Size:
3.7 × 2.3 × 1.7 cm
Description

The green material on this specimen is probably a mix of conichalcite, brochantite & olivenite and under magnificationit seems like there has been some epimorph/pseudomorph process. These copper minerals grew on branches of copper/cuprite and there is some calcite on it too! A fine association/combo specimen. It looks very similar to Kupferkluft pieces but I was told it was from a nearby spot in Christiana! Old piece from a German collection! The color is less dark and more light in person!
