Smithsonite On Adamite

Classic Locality

Description Tabs

Description
Locality:
Hilarion Mine, Hilarion, Kamariza, Agios Konstantinos, Lavrion District, Attiki Prefecture, Greece
Class:
Combination
Size Range:
Miniature (4.5-7 cm)
Size:
5 × 3.8 × 2 cm
Description

Analysis showed rare earth element content in some specimens from this find, mainly Cerium in specimens with intense blue color. It is the best blue-green color I have seen in adamite. Quality material from the November 2014 find. Please note that similar pieces have appeared here. Pay maximum attention to the luster because zero luster and no evidence of crystals or clear botryoidal structure may mean that you are looking at a mass, or acid-treated specimen!! The lustrous, botryoidal smithsonite is covering the bluish adamite on that piece but it still makes for a fine smithsonite miniature!
