Description Tabs

Description
Locality:
Avissalos, Serifos Island, Milos, South Aegean, Greece

Miniature (4.5-7 cm)
Size:
6.5 × 4.5 × 2.7 cm
Largest Crystal:
1.20cm
Description

This is a superb Seriphos andradite and I will explain why! The crystals are razor sharp dodecahedrons and they are almost totally leaping out of the matrix, thus revealing textbook form. They do have the highly desirable darker edges that we love on these garnets and last but not least, they show unusual translucency for their big size. The piece is very aesthetic as the crystals of andradite are sitting on contrasting, typical hedenbergite matrix, showing-off their shape!
