Description

Octahedral crystals of cuprite in a cavity with orange rhombohedral dolomite. They are very lustrous, well placed in the matrix and in good condition. Highly gemmy, the blood-red colour is impressive, especially if backlighted. The main crystal shows at one side a contact with the matrix.

Infrequent material from Musonoi, it comes from the collection of Joseph Lhoest, a Belgian doctor who worked in DR of Congo for many years, and it is well known for his early 1990’s articles about Congo in the Mineralogical Record.
