Description

This specimen is from a very uncommon locality near the village of Valdemoro (Madrid), characterized by continental paleolake deposits of the Lower Miocene age. Under UV illumination this opal displays a strong green fluorescence. These lacustrine sediments were strongly silicified and transformed to white hard nodules, which compositions are usually more than 85% of Opal-CT (Bustillo & Bustillo, 2000).
