Description

This fluorite was self-collected in 2009 at the Touroug-El Hamda quarry, Morocco. It is a cluster of fluorite cubes of moderate lustre with growing phantoms, from blue near the core to a yellow exterior layer, included by lustrous pyrite crystals, which is typical for the locality. These fluorites present a very intense colour change if illuminated with the sun light, turning much more deep bluish green coloured than shown in the pictures here, but quite transparent under artificial light. It displays also a strong fluorescence under long (blue) and short (yellow-white) wave UV illumination.
