Description

Uncommon and rare slab of a rock from Mysore featuring bottle green crystals of rare mavinite, surrounding thick, well-developed crystals of blue kyanite and magenta red ruby crystals. Under long waves of ultraviolet light, ruby crystals get typical intense red fluorescence. The specimen was labelled as “kyanite & ruby in fuchsite”, but fuchsite has not being described in Mysore. However these mases of intense green crystals have been described as mavinite.

In 1984 Dr Gerad Vogel bought at the Tucson Show a raw block of this rock that he cut, keeping a couple a top slabs in his collection.
