Description

From the type locality, this is a good block of black uraninite with one side richly coated by a crust with hundreds of tiny crystals of olive green to white shabaite-(Nd), and flattened radial rosettes of bright, canary yellow kamotoite-(Y) crystals.

It was in the collection of Joseph Lhoest, a Belgian doctor who worked in D.R. Congo for many years and it is well known for his articles about Congo in the Mineralogical Record and Lapis.

Collected before 1985. Ex Joseph Lhoest.
