Metallic grey hairy boulangerite crystals on a crust of snow white calcite. The block is an aggregate of crystallized golden pyrite and sharp lustrous steel grey arsenopyrite. A hand size piece that surpass 0.5 Kg that’s was labelled as Jamesonite.

I sent it for analyses to Dr. Cesar Menor (Geospectra) and he determined that it is boulangerite:

“Possible Jamesonite from Mazapil (Mexico). Hair-like lead grey crystals. APXS shows S, Pb and Sb with proportion Pb:Sb 3:2. Raman spectroscopy not definitive due to alteration crust on the crystals, but peak at 600-650 is visible. Result: Boulangerite”.

Acquired in 1987. Ex Gerard Vogel collection.
