Description

Rich aggregate of lustrous tabular torbernite crystals to 11 mm in size, aerially exposed all around on a tabular piece of matrix, almost a floater piece, partially coated by black botryoidal heterogenite. The torbernite crystals are glassy, quite clean, with an amazing bottle green colour. At the rear side there are some very attractive crystals of pale-green metatorbernite that grow epitaxially on torbernite.

It was in the collection of Joseph Lhoest, a Belgian doctor who worked in D.R. of Congo for many years and it is well known for his articles about Congo in the Mineralogical Record.
