Description
Locality:
Mumba Cassiterite Gravels, Mumba, Masisi Mountains, North Kivu, DR Congo
Class:
Crystal Group/Cluster
Size Range:
Thumbnail (1-3cm)
Size:
1.9 × 1.1 × 1 cm
Description

Old heavy thick half nugget of bismuth with rounded edges due to fluvial transport. The piece is cleaved, allowing us to observe that the internal structure is formed by platina grey, aggregated tabular crystals of bismuth of bright metallic lustre. These specimens were seldom recovered from the historical fluvial terraces at the Mumba area, worked for cassiterite and tantalite.

Obtained in the 1960’s, it is an Ex Professor A. Delvaux (1919-1998) specimen.
