Description

Flattener group of pyrite crystals completely replaced by goethite. One side has bigger crystals and less lustre while the other side has smaller crystals with better lustre. The group is associated to white incomplete quartz crystals. A good representative pseudomorph of this unusual limestone quarry that was located at the Katonto Hill and exploited during the Belgian colonial times.

Found before 1960, the specimen is from the stock of Robert Verdoodt, who was working in the laboratories of Union Minière du Haut-Katanga and evacuated to Belgium after the beginning of the Congo crisis that very year.
