Description

Aggregate of lustrous flattened quartz crystals of trigonal habit, where the termination is formed mainly by one very well developed rhombohedron. The blue colour is very intense, and the translucent areas allow us to detect clearly the inclusions of hairy blue riebeckite.

The specimen is free of damages, with some re-entrant areas where the contacts with the matrix was, that are partially filled by blueish grey fibrous riebeckite. So my guess is that the piece was treated with acid to remove some carbonate that formed part of the matrix, exposing these fully crystallized blue quartz.

Ex Jan Sibtsen Collection #3096.
