Description

Sharp purplish axinite-(Fe) with good lustre and transparency on a crystallized matrix of silverwhite lustrous arsenopyrite, quartz and chalcopyrite. Heavy specimen (0.5 Kg) with many cavities filled by well-defined crystals. Typical material, etched out of calcite, from this Tasmanian skarn.

Acquired in 1991. Ex René Virlet specimen.
