Description

Self-collected opal specimen from a very uncommon locality in Valdemoro (Madrid) characterized by continental paleolake deposits of the Lower Miocene age. These lacustrine sediments were strongly silicified and transformed to white hard nodules, which compositions are usually more than 85% of Opal-CT (Bustillo & Bustillo, 2000).

Under UV illumination this opal displays a strong green fluorescence.

Found in 2013 by Iván Blanco.
